Tips for Creating Coffered Ceiling Framing

Coffered ceilings can make a beautiful architectural statement in your home. This type of ceiling can be a bit difficult to visualize initially, but this helpful video allows you to see a finished frame so you can better understand the basic construction and materials you will require.

Typically, a coffered ceiling begins with frame elements angled at 45 degrees toward the upper flat level of the ceiling. Corners typically consist of three of these angled frame pieces meeting together, but there is some freedom in the general design that you can use to reach your end goals.
