Common Grades and Upper Grades of Softwood Lumber

Lumber and timber

Did you know that the distinction between softwoods and hardwoods is based on the type of seeds the tree produces, not how hard or soft its wood is? At Southern Lumber, we carry softwood lumber, hardwoods, plywoods, and more. Of the softwoods we carry, we offer common grades and upper grades. The common grade softwood lumber we have include Sugar Pine and Construction Heart Redwood lumber. We have two-inch thick Kiln-Dried Hemlock Fir, as well. At Southern Lumber we even carry 3- and 4-inch thick #1 Douglas Fir. Southern Lumber also has one of the largest selections of upper grade softwoods. We carry Clear Sugar Pine; Clear, All-Heart Redwood; and Vertical-Grain Douglas Fir in a range of sizes and thicknesses.
