How Wooden Doors Are Made

Making interior and exterior doors from specialty woods takes time. First, the factory must load logs onto steam basins, where they sit for three days. This de-ices them and softens the wood fibers. Then the bark is removed from the logs and they are shaped into perfectly cylindrical pieces of wood. After this, the wood is sliced into sheets and visual defects are detected by a laser and removed. Next, machines combine small blocks of wood to form the core of the door.
