The Process of Squaring Lumber

Squaring your lumber in San Jose is typically one of the first steps you will take in beginning your woodworking project. Watch this video clip to learn more about the process of squaring lumber.

When squaring your lumber, start by flattening the face. Look at the wood grain direction to make sure the blade will not tear out the fibers, and then use a jointer to flatten one face. Then, with the jointed face down, pass your lumber through a surface planar to flatten the opposite surface. You can now return to the jointer for the first edge and use a table saw for the second.
