Constructing a Keyed Miter Joint

Miter joints are a very common way to join two pieces of wood that come together in a corner, such as in a cabinet or picture frame. The idea behind the miter joint is very simple. You are simply cutting the wood at 45 degree so they come together at 90 degrees. But by themselves, miter joints are not very strong. One way to reinforce miter joints is to reinforce the outside of the joint using splines. Watch this video to see how to add splines to a keyed miter joint.
